Spokane County Sheriff Asks Public to Avoid Fairgrounds Traffic

πŸ”Š Listen Β· narrated by Aiden

Spokane County Sheriff's Office has asked the public to avoid traffic near the Spokane County Interstate Fairgrounds between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. due to congestion caused by fire crews responding to the Spokane Complex Fire. The Spokane Complex Fire Command Post is located at the fairgrounds, with nearly 2,000 additional firefighters and equipment stationed there. Traffic on Broadway Avenue and Havana Street becomes extremely congested during these times, delaying fire personnel. The Sheriff's Office stated that avoiding the area will help reduce delays for firefighters and allow them to focus on containment efforts. Temporary road closures may occur in the affected areas as needed. The affected routes include East Broadway between North Havana Street and North Fancher Road, and North Havana Street between East Sprague Avenue and East Trent Avenue.
