Spokane Valley Man Gets 10-Year Sentence for Violating Orders

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

Jacob A. Northrup (37) was sentenced to 10 years in prison on August 28, 2026, after a Spokane Superior Court jury found him guilty of seven counts of Violation of a No Contact Order and one count of Witness Tampering.

Northrup made 1,676 phone calls to his victim over a two-year period while in jail, violating court orders. He also urged the victim not to testify against him. The State requested an exceptional sentence of 120 months, which the judge granted, citing Northrup's eight prior domestic violence convictions and refusal to follow court orders.

The victim asked the court to release Northrup, but Judge Julie McKay ordered 60 months for the VNCOs and 60 months for Witness Tampering to be served consecutively. Deputy Prosecutors Hannah Stearns and Gabrielle Marquez handled the case.
