WIC Program Joins Maddie's Place in Spokane Valley

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

The Spokane Regional Health District’s Women, Infant and Children Nutrition Program (WIC) will offer on-site services at Maddie’s Place starting July 7, according to a news release from the health district and Maddie’s Place.

WIC staff will be available every Tuesday from 1-5 p.m. at the recovery nursery, which provides care for infants with prenatal substance exposure. The move aims to provide consistent access to nutrition support without requiring families to leave the wraparound care their infants need.

Mary Wood, WIC program manager, said the on-site service will allow families to receive health screenings, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and help accessing monthly benefits while supporting recovery. Kim Dunham, director of family advocacy at Maddie’s Place, noted WIC has been a strong supporter since the facility opened three and a half years ago.
