Spokane Regional Health District's Women, Infant and Children Nutrition Program (WIC) will begin offering services on-site at Maddie's Place starting July 7, 2026. The on-site WIC services will provide nutrition support, health screenings, breastfeeding assistance, and help accessing monthly benefits for families caring for infants with prenatal substance exposure. WIC staff will be available every Tuesday from 1-5 p.m. at the recovery nursery. Mary Wood, WIC program manager, stated, 'By meeting them where they are, in a supportive and familiar environment, we can join Maddie's Place in making the recovery process as successful as possible.' Kim Dunham, director of family advocacy at Maddie's Place, added, 'Having WIC on site at Maddie's Place will allow families easy access to the vital services they are eligible for, giving the moms and babies a healthy start.'
